At least fourteen people were killed in five days following conflicts that undermine relations between communities in several villages of the Bwito chiefdom in the Ruthsuru, say sources of civil society. Dans la nuit de mardi à mercredi 11 octobre au moins neuf personnes ont été tuées respectivement dans les villages Butsiri et Mirangi, situés dans le groupement de Kanyabayonga. Parmi les victimes, deux femmes et un enfant. Le président du Baraza la Wazee à Bwalanda attribue ces derniers homicides aux miliciens Maï-Maï Mazembe, soulignant que ces différentes attaques interviennent dans un contexte de tensions entre les différentes communautés de Bwito. Il affirme en outre que plusieurs villageois d’origine hutu quittent depuis lundi la région pour fuir l’insécurité alimentée selon eux par l’activisme des groupes armés qui sont pour la plupart des branches armées des communautés vivant dans ce secteur. Il appelle le gouvernement à prendre des mesures urgentes, estimant que la situation sécuritaire à Bwito reste préoccupante et volatile. «La situation s’empire dans la chefferie de Bwito en particulier dans le groupement Mutanda et le groupement de Kanyabayonga. Nous demandons au gouvernement provincial et national de demander à l’armée de protéger la population civile. Nous ne voulons pas l’histoire de l’année passée, où il y a un grand mouvement de la population civile et cette population est entrain de souffrir», a-t-il plaidé. En 2016, de dizaines des civils avaient été tués dans des conflits entre les communautés Hutu, Nande et Hunde à Bwito. La réconciliation entre ces communautés avait été obtenue grâce à l’implication du gouvernement provincial, de la MONUSCO et du Baraza intercommunautaire.
